What is it?

The Fire Helmet Camera is a fully integrated, waterproof and shock resistant helmet camera for firefighters. It can be used for interior and exterior firefighting tactics. It can also be used for training and aiding fire investigators in their search for origin. Other uses include wildland firefighting for smoke jumpers and hazmat operations. It is a low cost alternative for firefighters and others to use instead of buying expensive helmet cameras that record onto a seperate device by using wires that hang down which can hamper firefighters mobility.

How much heat can it take?Is it waterproof? Does it have audio? How much will a 2GB SD card record? Can I use a 4GB SD card? What if I drop it, will it break? Does the camera have a warranty? Can the camera be mounted anywhere on the helmet?

How much heat can it take?

Our Fire Instructors have had it in several fires where there was rollover, heavy smoke conditions and extreme temperature. We have had partial failure of the unit @ 912 degrees F, just before or during flashover conditions. All of the recorded data was still retreived from the unit.

Is it waterproof?

YES, It is definately waterproof. Customers have actually use it for snorkling.

Does it have audio?

Yes. You can even adjust the audio after you video something and download it to "Windows Movie Maker". This program is on your PC under "Programs" when you hit the green start tab. Email us if you have trouble finding it.

How much will a 2GB SD card record?

At the medium setting, it will record for 2 full hours. At this setting, it is almost the same, crisp clear setting as the large setting.

Can I use a 4GB SD card?

NO. The camera only supports up to 2GB SD cards.

What if I drop it, will it break?

NO. The camera is designed to be shock resistant.

Does the camera have a warranty?

YES. It has a manufacturers warranty, as well as the SD cards and the battery charger that is sold as a kit. Any defective units will be IMMEDIATLEY exchanged for a new one.

Can the camera be mounted anywhere on the helmet?

Yes. However, it is recommended to be mounted under the brim of the left or right side. It comes with the new "fire helmet mount". The camera can also be placed on top of the truck, dash, platform nozzle, or anywhere.
